What to Expect When Starting With TheKey

We take the time to truly understand your needs, routines, preferences, and personality to build a personalized care approach and strategically match you with caregivers through TheKeyMatch™, ensuring care is set up for success from day one.

Step 1: Your First Conversation

When you call TheKey, you'll speak with someone who listens carefully to your situation, answers your questions honestly, and helps you understand whether home care is the right fit and what level of support makes sense.

Step 2: Comprehensive Assessment

Once you're ready to move forward, we will meet you in your home for a thorough assessment. This isn't a quick checklist. It's a comprehensive evaluation that looks at the whole person—physical health, cognitive function, mobility, social engagement, emotional well-being, daily routines, personal preferences, and living environment.

Step 3: Creating Your Personalized Care Plan Using the Balanced Care Method®

Using insights from the assessment, your Client Success Manager creates a personalized Care Plan built on the Balanced Care Method®. Beyond just a list of tasks to complete, this is a comprehensive approach that addresses all six wellness pillars.

Your Care Plan may include:

  • Daily living needs (meals, housekeeping, transportation, personal care)
  • Cognitive engagement activities tailored to interests and abilities
  • Physical movement adapted to capabilities and preferences
  • Social connection opportunities to reduce isolation
  • Purposeful activities that bring meaning and joy
  • Sleep routines that support overall health and well-being

Step 4: Strategic Caregiver Matching Using TheKeyMatch™

Once your Care Plan is established, your Caregiver Manager uses TheKeyMatch™ to strategically pair you with caregivers. All our caregivers are W-2 employees (not independent contractors), thoroughly trained in the Balanced Care Method®, background-checked, insured, and supervised by Caregiver Managers who ensure quality and consistency.

Step 5: Care Begins

You'll meet your caregiver(s) and be introduced to your full Care Team. The first few days are about observation, adjustment, and relationship-building. Your caregiver learns your loved one's routines while implementing the Balanced Care Method® in daily interactions.

What Happens After Care Begins

The first few weeks of care are about learning, adjusting, and building trust. Your caregiver gets to know your loved one's routines, preferences, and personality. Your Client Success Manager checks in regularly to ensure everything is working smoothly. And if anything needs adjustment, such as schedule changes, care approach tweaks, or a different caregiver fit, we handle it immediately.

But great care doesn't stop once routines are established. It evolves continuously.

How Care Evolves Over Time

Aging isn't static. Health fluctuates, abilities change, and needs shift. That's why our approach is built on continuous monitoring and proactive adaptation. Your care plan isn't set in stone when it's created. It's a living document that evolves alongside your situation, ensuring care remains effective, appropriate, and supportive at every stage.

Ongoing Monitoring and Quality Oversight

Your Client Success Manager stays in regular communication with you, checking in proactively to ensure care is working as it should. We don't wait for you to call with problems. We identify any concerns you may have early and address them before they become crises.

The Balanced Care Method® in Daily Practice

While the six pillars help shape every care plan, how they're implemented evolves based on changing abilities and needs. Early in care, "Move More" might mean daily walks. As mobility declines, it becomes chair exercises. The pillars remain constant, but the application adapts to maintain wellness within current capabilities.

Proactive Care Plan Adjustments

Your care plan is a living document, continuously refined to meet current needs, addressing changes in condition, cognitive decline, new interests, family circumstances, or seasonal factors before they become problems.

Seamless Care Transitions

When care needs escalate, transitions are seamless. Because your Care Team already knows your situation through the Balanced Care Method® framework and has established relationships through TheKeyMatch™, you're not starting over. You're simply expanding support within an existing, trusted partnership.

Your Care Journey Starts Here

Every journey starts with a conversation. Talk with our team about your situation, your concerns, and what you hope care can provide. We'll listen carefully, answer your questions honestly, and help you understand whether TheKey is the right fit.
